Dallas Fair Park Parking Garage Goes Underground

“Hidden In Plain Sight” Parking Garage Coming to Fair Park

The underground parking lot will have a 14-acre community park above it. The above-ground park replaces surface parking at the location. Fair Park First and Gensler unveiled the design for the Fair Park Fitzhugh Parking Structure.

“The design approach envisions the parking garage as an extension of the park, bringing the landscape to the top of the structure and establishing a new public space for the City of Dallas,” said Gensler’s Brian Nicodemus.

The garage features 1,650 parking spaces and 70,000 square feet of operational facilities tucked underneath the projects north berm. A 47-foot ascent leading to the top of the garage encourages visitors to spend time outdoors instead of using the elevator. The parking lot will get a lot of use from nearby facilities such as the Cotton Bowl and the Texas State Fair.
