Hidalgo Infrastructure Project 2018 to be Unveiled

A projected $54.6-million economic development plan, dubbed the Hidalgo Infrastructure Project 2018, will be unveiled Nov. 14, 2018. The event, which will take place in Hidalgo, TX, will present upcoming major construction projects to help promote industrial and commercial development in the city, situated in the Rio Grande Valley.

The project’s focus is on 111 acres of undeveloped land, owned by a private investment group named 111 Hidalgo LLC. The acreage is located near the multipurpose State Farm Arena, which opened in 2003 at 2600 N. 10th St.

There had been no development on the site, due to lack of public infrastructure. However, the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, awarded $1.2 million, while the Hidalgo Economic Development Corp. kicked in an additional $300,000.

One plan is to create an industrial park on 30 of the acres. Also on the drawing board is a 20,000-square-foot dry-food warehouse.
