HGA Architects Opening New Office in San Diego

People, and businesses, seem to prefer to be physically present in Southern California – the diversity, the weather, the opportunity – and architects are no different. Minnesota-based HGA Architects is opening a new office in San Diego.

The firm has leased space in the historic Mission Brewery Plaza, 2150 W. Washington St., according to a news release.

The choice of that location seems to be in the “swing zone” for a fleet of architects, mentioned in the news release:

Built in 1912-1913 for San Diego Consolidated Brewing Company, formerly the Bay City Brewing Company, the property was reportedly the first Mission Revival style brewery to have been built in the U.S. and is the oldest surviving brewery structure in San Diego.

HGA has an existing office in Santa Monica, and has several buildings in San Diego already under its belt, including a $664 million hospital tower at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

HGA will begin its SD permanence with 10 employees, but the firm plans to add staff quickly.
