Hewlett-Packard Layoffs Could Mean 33,000 Job Cuts
Up to 33,000 employees could lose their jobs as a result of proposed Hewlett-Packard layoffs. The layoffs represent more than 10 percent of HP’s 300,000 employees worldwide.
The cuts will mainly come at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, which targets the company’s larger corporate customers. Palo Alto-based HP and the Enterprise division are set to become separate public traded companies, which is expected to save $2.7 billion.
The proposed Hewlett-Packard layoffs follow the company’s reduction of 55,000 jobs in 2012.
In addition to the layoffs, HP is also adjusting its real estate strategy, which might mean that several firms seeking space in the Bay Area could get their chance.
