Herman Miller Will Move Showroom from Vornado’s Mart to Fulton Market

Furniture maker Herman Miller, which has maintained a showroom at Vornado Realty Trust’s Mart since 1939, is following the example of another Mart tenant and moving to the Fulton Market District. Crain’s Chicago Business reported that Herman Miller has leased all of a 45,000-square-foot mixed-use development planned for 1100 W. Fulton Market.

A venture of Chicago developer Fulton St. and Oak Brook,IL-based Huizenga Capital Management still needs final City Council approval to redevelop the 1100 W. Fulton site, located a block west of Google’s Midwest headquarters, Crain’s reported.

The move by Herman Miller from its longtime tenancy at the iconic Merchandise Mart—which Vornado acquired in 1997 and more recently rebranded as the Mart—follows that of another furniture maker, Knoll. Also a longtime presence at the Mart, Knoll announced last month that it would move to Shapack Partners’ newly-built 811 W. Fulton in early 2020.
