Help Desk for Homeowners

Homeowners gathered at Public School 9 in Brooklyn’s East New York neighborhood recently for the first “East New York Homeowner Help Desk.” Attendees received advice on topics including avoiding real estate scams, protection from foreclosure, and how fix up houses through weatherization loan programs.

Brooklyn and other city officials partnered with Cypress Hills Local Development Corp., Mutual Housing Association of New York (MHANY) Management, and Brooklyn Legal Services Corp A to host the event.

“With the average home sales price in Brooklyn at an all-time high of $780,000, and so many other challenges to homeownership, we must do more to make sure New Yorkers are able to buy and keep their homes,” said NYC Council Member Rafael Espinal.
