Heavy Hitters Join Push for Congestion Pricing
Bringing their campaign to Albany, a coalition including the Real Estate Board of New York will take to social media and the State Capitol’s corridors to push for a congestion pricing plan to support the city’s mass transit. The New York Daily News reported that Uber, whose drivers would be impacted by congestion pricing, has joined the coalition, which also includes the Partnership for New York City, Local 32BJ and Move NY.
The coalition wants lawmakers to accept the recommendations of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Fix NYC Advisory Panel, which advocated congestion pricing and other measures. The group hopes to see a plan included in the state’s 2018-2019 budget, due for passage by April 1.
“We have a crisis, we have a viable plan to cut traffic and fund our transit system, and now we need Albany to pass it,” Move NY Director Alex Matthiessen told the Daily News.
