Hawkins Proposes Southdale MXU in Scottsdale

Boise, ID-based Hawkins Companies submitted plans for Southdale, a four-story, mixed-use multifamily development in Scottsdale. The 267-unit project would be built on a roughly 4.7-acre site at 7000 E. McDowell Rd.

The existing property would be redeveloped with residential units, a 4,300-square-foot URBO Market (urban market/café), as well as corporate office space for Hawkins Companies’, which would relocate its Tempe regional headquarters there. The property currently houses Scottsdale Christian Church, Berghoff Design Group and has truck/trailer storage and office space.

The design for the proposed MXU project would add a modern Southwestern, mid-century inspired, contemporary aesthetic to the evolving McDowell Road Regional Corridor. The site is near Skysong and Papago Regional Centers, as well as such amenities as Desert Botanical Garden and the Phoenix Zoo.

The project would include 405 parking spaces, as well as new pedestrian connectivity resulting from the extension of the URBO Market into a public plaza for residents and passersby.
