Hawaiian Auberge Resorts Collection Property Undergoes $200M Renovation
Auberge Resorts Collection increased its renovation budget to $200 million for the Mauna Lani resort property in Hawaii that was closed last October for upgrades.
DiamondHead Land, a joint venture between San Francisco-based ProspectHill Group and Hawaii-based hotel executive Pat Fitzgerald, as well as an unnamed institutional investor, acquired the 32-acre oceanfront property in August 2017 for $225 million.
The Kohala Coast resort is set to reopen by January 2020, following the improvements. It will be the state’s first hotel in the luxury Auberge Resorts Collection.
The room count will drop to 333 from 368 to make way for larger rooms, as well as more suites, up to 38 from 23. The resort will now have three pools, including a new keiki pool and an adults-only pool, as well as an original family pool. There will be new shops added, and the food and beverage offerings will expand to five from two choices.
