Hasbro Nears Decision on Boston Headquarters Move

Toy maker Hasbro Inc., which has been considering a headquarters relocation from Pawtucket, RI to Boston since last September, is close to a decision, the Boston Business Journal reported. An unlikely candidate has emerged as a strong contender: a lab-and-office building in Boston’s Seaport District already leased to a life sciences company.

Sources told the Business Journal that Hasbro is considering relocating to 400 Summer St., the Foundation Medicine building that opened in the Seaport last year. Foundation, a genomic testing company owned by the Swiss drug giant Roche, leased the entire 580,000-square-foot building from WS Development in 2019, but has marketed much of the space for sublease.

Two of the sources characterized 400 Summer as the front-runner in Boston at this point, reported the Business Journal. Hasbro has been searching for about 250,000 square feet for its headquarters. A decision is expected in the coming weeks.
