Harris Health Adding $150M Cancer Center in NE Houston
Harris Health is moving forward with a new cancer center at the John M. O’Quinn Hospital in NE Houston.
The freestanding cancer center will open in 2029, after the opening of the new O’Quinn Hospital. The total project cost is now $150 million, up from $70 million.
The center will stand four stories and span 125,000 square feet. It will be at the southeast corner of the campus on Lockwood Street. Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027. The additional $80 million will come from philanthropic support.
The new center is part of Harris Health’s long-running strategic facilities plan, which is largely funded by a $2.5 billion bond that county voters approved in 2023. The centerpiece of the plan is the new $2 billion John M. O’Quinn Hospital, a 12-story, 1.3 million-square-foot facility.
