Harris Bay Plans 112-Key Artista Hotel in Opportunity Zone

Private equity firm Harris Bay recently acquired 0.2 acres along the San Antonio River Walk from Seaside Hospitality Corp. The California buyer’s plan for the acreage at 151 E. Travis St. is the Artista, a 112-room boutique hotel in San Antonio’s CBD Opportunity Zone. The hotel will have a focus on unique designs and crafted pieces, such as furniture, murals and audio/visual displays.

John Harris, the development company’s managing partner, indicated that the Opportunity Zone program played a large role in the decision to build the project. Harris Bay is no stranger to the area. It owns the eight-story Commerce Building in the CBD, and is developing on Essex Modern City, a mixed-use project at Essex, Denver and Carolina Streets.

According to local media, Artista Hotel will come before San Antonio’s Historic Design and Review Commission by early summer. Jordan Foster Construction is handling pre-construction services on the building, and Creo Architecture is the designer.
