Hardest-Working States in the U.S.
Think you work hard? Well, how does that compare with your counterparts across the nation?
WalletHub wanted to find out the hardest-working states in America, so the personal-finance company performed some research and produced its report, along with videos to create a ranking.
By comparing 50 states across 10 metrics, from average work hours per week to the number of volunteers per capita, here’s the findings:
Top 10 Hardest-Working States:
- Alaska
- North Dakota
- Wyoming
- South Dakota
- Nebraska
- New Hampshire
- Texas
- Colorado
- Virginia
- Kansas
Surprised the big ones like New York aren’t on the list? We are, too. Here’s a few additional interesting facts:
- New York does have the longest average commute time at 32.6 minutes.
- Idaho has the highest number of workers not capitalizing on paid-time-off (78%). Maine has the lowest at 38%.
- Alaska has the most worked hours per week at 42
