Hard Rock Conceives $400M Atlantic City Rebirth
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, NJ is set to undergo a nearly $400 million redevelopment that is envisioned to transform the vacant property into a viable entertainment destination. Hard Rock International, which acquired the vacant former Taj Mahal Casino from Carl Icahn, said it closed the sale and secured financing for the planned capital improvements.
Hard Rock seeks to create a full entertainment destination, beyond a gambling venue. The “complete renovation” will encompass all new guest rooms, adding new furniture throughout, and completely redesigning the casino floor for 2,400 slot machines and 130 table games.
Sight lines will be opened up to maximize the views, new restaurants will be added and the Hard Rock Café Atlantic City will move into a new 400-seat venue with beach access. The renovation is slated to be completed in summer 2018.
