Halvorsen Holdings to Develop 70K-SF Retail Center Near Savannah

Florida-based real estate developer Halvorsen Holdings plans to develop May River Crossing, a 70,200-square-foot, Publix-anchored retail center in Bluffton, SC. Located on the northeast corner of Okatie Highway and May River Road, the 15-acre site is situated on a primary route for commuter traffic to and from Savannah.

The center will include a 48,000-square-foot Publix location, as well as 21,845 square feet of small shop space aimed at restaurants, upscale service industry and fitness concepts. A nail salon, hair salon and national cell phone provider have already signed leases at the center. In compliance with the Town of Bluffton’s green communal space mandate, each of the buildings in the shopping center have ample outdoor eating areas or patios with green space.

“Located in a high-end residential and visitor area, the accessibility to this center is great and in fact a high priority for Publix,” said Tim Berg, president, Halvorsen Real Estate Corp. “May River Crossing’s Publix will be the closest one to Palmetto Bluff, a residential community with 500 $1 million+ homes, growing to 2,500 homes at completion.”
