Half Price Books Launches Construction on Bookmark Center MXU
Family owned bookstore chain Half Price Books launched construction on Bookmark Center, a mixed-use project adjacent to its flagship location on Northwest Highway and Shadybrook Lane in Dallas. The book buyer and seller’s development arm, BookMark LLC, is building a free-standing, 5,000-square-foot building in hopes of attracting a restaurant. Also on tap is a 27,000-square-foot, four-level retail and office building.
Half Price Books acquired the six acres on which its unnamed development is being built more than 10 years ago; the development’s first phase brought in Starbucks and REI. Lincoln Property Co.’s David Lewis and Stephen LaMure with Dominus Commercial Inc. are handling leasing.
“This is our home,” BookMark’s Ken Wright told the Dallas Morning News. “. . . this is a great place for us to invest our money. It’s a very long-term real estate play.”
