Habitat Leads Partnership in North Lawndale MXU

The Habitat Company has received approval from the city’s Planning Commission to move forward with plans for a $200-million 10-acre mixed-use project in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. To be known as Ogden Commons, it’s being developed in partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority, Sinai Health System and Cinespace Chicago Film Studios.

The project will offer mixed-income rental housing, along with 120,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. Cinepsace and Sinai, both already based in the area, will occupy much of the commercial space when work wraps up on the project in 2021.

Habitat President Matt Fiascone said Ogden Commons will help serve as an economic catalyst for the area. He called the project “a commitment by each partner to help enhance an historic community that will serve the residents and businesses of North Lawndale and the greater Chicago area for years to come.”
