H Street NE’s AutoZone, Parking Lot Offered for Lease

The former AutoZone on H Street NE, approved for a multifamily redevelopment last year, is now available for lease, Washington Business Journal reported. The property, including an 8,736-square-foot retail space and a 40-space parking lot, offers 394 feet of H Street NE frontage. The building features 16-foot ceilings and is fully vacant.

WestMill Capital Partners, which acquired the site in 2011, had plans to redevelop it once the AutoZone lease expired, which has now occurred. The current leasing opportunity indicates a potential delay or change in the redevelopment plans.

The property was rezoned for medium-density development in 2022, and a plan for a roughly 200-unit multifamily building with retail and parking was approved by the Board of Zoning Adjustment in late September. Michael Graves + PGN Architects had been listed as the project’s designer.
