H Mart Will Open Its Largest U.S. Location in Fremont

Vestar said Tuesday that H Mart, the nation’s largest Asian supermarket chain, will open its largest U.S. location at Pacific Commons Shopping Center in Fremont. The flagship store, representing the largest investment in the company’s history, will introduce H Mart’s multi-level prototype, featuring a food hall and dine-in restaurants. Construction is expected to begin in late 2026.

“This flagship H Mart further reinforces Pacific Commons as a leading retail destination in Northern California and its continued evolution into a true shopping, dining, and entertainment district,” said Rick Hearn, VP of leasing for Vestar. “Together with our partners at Heitman and the City of Fremont, we are actively adapting to our consumers’ shopping preferences, focused on welcoming experiential, destination-driven concepts that energize the center and serve the broader community.”

Pacific Commons, owned by Heitman and managed by Phoenix-based Vestar, is home to more than 55 retailers and restaurants including Target, Costco, T.J. Maxx, Nordstrom Rack and Sephora. The new H Mart will be the first in Fremont, joining other Northern California locations.
