H-E-B Trying to Keep Up With Texas Growth
For Texans, it seems not a day goes by when H-E-B is not announcing the opening of another grocery store. More often than not, it’s a big event for the town and long lines on day one are not uncommon. Last week, it was McKinney. The 118,000 square foot store will feature a full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru, a fuel station with a car wash and a True Texas BBQ restaurant
The chain has now confirmed that construction is underway for a new grocery store in Pflugerville. The retail bellwether is expected to open a 127,000-square-foot store — its third in the suburb northeast of Austin — at Pflugerville Parkway and State Highway 130 in the fall of 2024. It will have many of the same features as the McKinney store.
The San Antonio-based company opened its first store in Kerrville, Texas, in 1905, and now has over 420 stores across Texas and Mexico.
