H-E-B Scores Sizable Tax Break for SA Warehouse Expansion
H-E-B is planning a $635 million expansion to its Super Regional Center near Foster Road and East Houston Street in Bexar County. As part of the deal, Bexar County has voted to approve a deal that will reduce the company’s county property-tax bill by more than $15 million over the life of the ten-year agreement.
The San Antonio Business Journal reports that county leaders who support the incentive said the agreement is meant to encourage long-term industrial investment and job growth on the East Side.
H-E-B built a 1.6-million-square-foot regional warehouse at the site in 2018 and added another plant in 2024. H-E-B has suggested that the latest additions will include a bakery plant, a refrigerated warehouse and a returned-goods center at the campus. The company has said the facility already employs about 1,400 workers. The expansion could add 720 new jobs.
