H-E-B Plans to Tear Down Dripping Springs Store, to Build a Bigger One

H-E-B is planning to knock down its current 75,000-square-foot Dripping Springs store and hopes to replace it with a new 125,000-square-foot store at 598 E. US Highway 290. The town’s council still needs to approve the move.

The Austin Business Journal reports the company is in various stages of expanding older stores in Buda, Round Rock, and Kyle. It also replaced an old store on South Congress Avenue and built a new one, which opened in December.

The existing Dripping Springs store, along with a car wash and fueling facility, broke ground in 2009 and opened in 2010. In addition, H-E-B opened a store in southwest Austin in 2023 to serve Dripping Springs.

Dripping Springs is about 25 miles west of Austin and, last year, was the fastest-growing suburb in the Austin area. Its population was 8,689.

H-E-B is the metro’s main grocer and continues to grow with more than 50 locations in the area.
