H-E-B Growing Again, Plans 106K-SF Store for Kerrville

San Antonio-headquartered grocery company H-E-B is building another store, this one in Kerrville, TX. Site construction is underway on the 106,000-square-foot store, which is situated next to the existing one at 300 Main St. in the Central Texas town. When the new location opens in late 2020, the current one, spanning 79,000 square feet will close.

The design of the new store will focus on the company’s roots; the retailer’s original store opened in Kerrville in 1905 as C.C. Butt Grocery Store. The building will incorporate metal shed roofs and limestone materials, with the limestome used to honor the company’s second store location, which opened in 1911, also in Kerrville. The store’s curbside logo will include a Model T, a nod to the early days of H-E-B grocery delivery.

Otherwise, the new retail center will be up to date, featuring an expanded frozen department, Meal Simple area, pharmacy with drive-through service, a bakery department and demonstration kitchen.
