Gwinnett County Seeking Redevelopment Ideas for 106-Acre Industrial Site
The Urban Redevelopment Agency of Gwinnett County is looking to reposition a mostly dormant 106-acre industrial property. The site is located just outside the city of Norcross next to Lightera’s optical fiber manufacturing campus. Lightera sold the parcel to Gwinnett’s redevelopment agency in 2018.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports Gwinnett is open to ideas regarding what will be built. Potential uses include multifamily housing, office, retail, industrial or flex industrial. If apartments are part of the plan, the county said it prefers high-rise style buildings.
The property is located within a tax allocation district and in state and federal opportunity zones. Proposals for the site next to Lightera are due by 2 p.m. on May 15.
The Urban Redevelopment Agency of Gwinnett County also sent out a request for proposals in 2025 to redevelop Gwinnett Place Mall.
