Gulf Coast Nears Completion on Phase One of Houston Heights MXU

Houston-based Gulf Coast Commercial Group is nearing completion on the first phase of Lower Heights, a 24-acre mixed-use district formally announced last summer. It’s being built on assemblage of former industrial sites in the Houston Heights district.

Move-ins are underway at Alexan Lower Heights, a 375-unit luxury multifamily property developed by Trammell Crow Residential. It includes just over 15,000 square feet of ground-level retail/office space.

Lower Heights’ initial retail component, 2857 Katy Freeway, is a 37,000-square-foot block that saw Total Wine and Ulta openings late last year. That structure bookends parking shared by 1440 Studemont, the development’s most recent commercial addition.

Tom Lie, Gulf Coast president, said, “We are extremely excited about the vibrant environment we’re creating at Lower Heights and looking forward to being in the midst of it with our new office space.”

Future phases of the development call for a movie theater, additional retail, office and multifamily.
