GTZ Property Group Buys Former Car Dealership Slated for Retail Redevelopment

GTZ Property Group has purchased the former University Motor Mall property at 6120 S Cedar in Lansing, Michigan, with plans for a new retail development.

Originally opened in the 1950s as University Oldsmobile, the car dealership went through several iterations over the years until ownership shut operations entirely and decided to sell the property for redevelopment. With demolition currently underway, a new Chick-fil-A will start construction on the southern side of the property soon, with an opening planned for Spring 2026.

“We looked past the dilapidated buildings and saw a prime retail location in a high traffic, growing retail trade area,” says GTZ Co-founder Jeremy Forman. GTZ Properties is a Chicago-based, full-service commercial real estate development and investment company specializing in retail-related properties nationwide.
