Group Kirkman Divests 18-Acre Redevelopment in New Orlando Tourist Corridor
Group Kirkman sold the 18-acre International Festival Shopping Center in Orlando that is in line to be one of the first redevelopment deals directly related to the 1.7-mile Kirkman Road Extension. The buyer was Orlando-based Intram Investments, which will rebrand the Center as Olinda Center.
Located at the Northeast corner of North International Drive and S. Kirkman Road, the expanded tourist corridor will connect Universal Studios and the Epic Universe theme park currently under construction. The new ownership plans to upgrade the landscaping and curb appeal of the property while the current leases are in place, and will be exploring ideas for a mixed-use project.
Orlando-based Smith Equities Real Estate Investment Advisors represented the seller. Smith Equities’ Robert Smith says, “we used our extensive multifamily background and in-depth analysis of the Kirkman/Universal Corridor to market this opportunity as a redevelopment play. Once redeveloped, it will help change the local market perception of the entire Kirkman/Universal Corridor for years to come.”
