Groundbreaking Set for Live Oak Town Center IKEA
Swedish furniture store chain IKEA said it would break ground on its 289,000-square-foot store at the future Live Oak Town Center on March 21, 2018. The store will go north on 31 acres at Interstate 35 and Loop 1604, and will anchor the 111-acre retail development. The store, south Texas’ only IKEA, is scheduled for a spring 2019 opening, and the company anticipates bringing 250 jobs to the area.
The 800,000-square-foot Live Oak Town Center is on San Antonio’s far northeast side. Weitzman is developing and leasing the project, which will include 450,000 square feet of anchor and shop space, in addition to the IKEA store. The space will be geared toward specialty retail, entertainment and free-standing restaurants.
