Groundbreaking on Hospital Campus in Central IL
Taylorville Memorial Hospital officially broke ground recently for a new $60-million building on the hospital campus. The building will replace the current five-story facility that was built in 1954 in this Central Illinois community.
Construction is already underway on the 97,000-square-foot-structure. It will be built in two-phases and will include 25 private patient rooms, and will also include space for outpatient services, laboratory, educational conference rooms and administrative offices. The project is scheduled for completion in 2021.
“A two-and-a-half-year project so we can modernize the facilities for the people of Taylorville for decades to come,” Kim Bourne, CEO of Taylorville Memorial Hospital, told WAND TV. In opening remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony, Bourne said, “The scope, scale and size of this project are pretty significant, but it’s really about fulfilling our mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve.”
