Development Launch Nears for Pathways at Goodrich Place
Work has launched on the redevelopment of Pathways at Goodrich Place, a 120-unit, affordable housing property in Austin’s Zilker Neighborhood. An official development launch ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 19, hosted by the Housing Authority of the City of Austin and developers Atlantic | Pacific Communities and Madhouse Development Services.
HUD Secretary Ben Carson will be among the dignitaries speaking at the event.
Forty of the units at 2126 Goodrich Ave. received $15 million in tax credits through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Rental Assistance Demonstration, or RAD. RAD is a federal initiative that is geared toward financing more deeply affordable housing developments. Deeply affordable housing is geared toward people earning 25%-35% of an area median income. The remaining 80 units will be offered as affordable, which targets people earning from 50%-60% of the AMI.
