Ground Broken on New Baseball Stadium in Las Vegas
The Howard Hughes Corporation and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority broke ground on the $150-million Las Vegas Ballpark, a 10,000-person capacity baseball stadium that will be the future home of the Las Vegas 51s baseball team. The team is a Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, and owned by The Howard Hughes Corporation.
The Howard Hughes Corporation’s David Weinreb says, “Today’s groundbreaking marks an important milestone in the next stage of growth for both Downtown Summerlin and the Las Vegas 51s.”
The eight-acre site is located south of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights practice facility. The baseball facility is planned to open next year, and will also host civic, community, nonprofit and sporting events and is designed to create a festival-like atmosphere. The wide range of seating options include 20 suites, party zones and decks, a kids’ zone, and bars and a pool beyond the outfield wall.
