Ground Breaks on 50-Acre Entertainment Venue

Ground broke on The Backyard, a 50-acre entertainment venue and planned development district on Bee Cave Parkway in Bee Cave, TX, near Austin. The project, which is being built following years of planning and permitting, will be between Rural Route 620 and West SH 71. The development is spearheaded by International Development Management (IDM).

The original Backyard venue opened in 1993 on W. SH 71, and was an outdoor amphitheater that brought in jazz, country, classical and rock concerts, but closed after relocating to Bee Cave. The new project will continue attracting musical acts. The site will also hold a hotel, parking garages and office buildings.

Though the ceremonial groundbreaking took place, a certificate of occupancy is being withheld for the entire project until access can be obtained to West SH 71. The only current entrance and exit is off Bee Cave Parkway, prompting traffic concerns.
