Ground Breaking Set for $243M Hospital Tower
The Chula Vista City Council approved plans for a nearly $243-million, seven-story tower at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. Construction on the 191,000-square-foot Ocean View Tower is slated to start next month, and expected to be completed in 2019.
The proposed tower includes 138 private patient rooms, six operating rooms, 10 intensive-care-unit suites, a rooftop café with panoramic views and a room for visitors to spend the night. The existing hospital tower’s first and second floors will be renovated and connected to the new tower.
Sharp HealthCare received sign off on conditional use permits, precise plan and design review, as well as environmental mitigation measures. The project still must secure permits from the state.
