Green Means Go: Is Ireland the Next China?
On the heels of St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland has a lot to celebrate. The country’s economy grew nearly seven percent last year, matching the reported pace of China, and greatly surpassing that of the U.S.
Ireland overcame unemployment that hit 15% during the Great Recession, after many feared that it would become the next Greece. However, unemployment has fallen to 8.6%, while strict financial reform has promoted its exports and cut government costs.
The country no longer relies on foreign business for assistance, as its domestic economy holds the “luck of the Irish.”
