GrayStreet Building Apartments, Hotel at Former Pig Stand Site

GrayStreet Partners can move forward on a hotel and apartment structure at 1523 North Alamo St in San Antonio. The Zoning Commission okayed the request, allowing for multiple uses at the site near the former Pig Stand restaurant.

GreyStreet is planning to build 100 multifamily units per acre, a hotel taller than 35 feet and food and beverage operations, totaling more than 167,000 square feet. The company previously filed plans for a 211-key hotel under Marriott International’s AC Hotel flag.

The property, alongside 1514 and 1516 Broadway, was acquired by GrayStreet in February 2023. The restaurant closed the following month.

The Pig Stand opened in 1921 and became a Broadway institution. The location was initially one of more than 130 Pig Stand locations across the United States, and the San Antonio location was the last remaining operating restaurant in the Dallas-based franchise.
