Grand Opening Set for Chicago Board of Trade Building Museum

R2 Companies and city stakeholders plan to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the newly unveiled Chicago Board of Trade Building (CBOTB) Museum located at 141 W. Jackson, in the heart of Chicago’s financial district.

Housed in a formerly vacant retail space near the building’s north lobby, the museum will feature large-scale graphics, video, and historic artifacts. R2 has partnered with Apollo Global Management to reposition the building with plans to revitalize and uncover the 1.4-million-square-foot building, to include creative office, retail, restaurant, and amenities.

The museum project was partially funded by one of the city’s early Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) grants for retail revitalization. Mayor Brandon Johnson had announced a $250,000 grant for the project, one of seven from the city’s SBIF to support LaSalle Street Reimagined. Built in 1930, the Art Deco tower was designated as a Chicago landmark in 1977 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
