Gov. Newsom Launches “Vaccinate All 58” Campaign as First Vaccines Arrive in California
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday launched “Vaccinate All 58,” California’s campaign for a safe, fair and equitable vaccine for all 58 counties in the state, as the first doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in the state. The Governor joined Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, one of the first locations in the state to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, as first doses were administered.
Vaccines will be administered in phases by prioritizing groups according to risk and level of exposure across the state. Initial doses will go to California’s essential health care workers and those among the most vulnerable in long-term care settings. The state received the first 33,000 doses of the 325,000 expected from Pfizer. The initial doses were also distributed to hospitals in San Francisco, San Diego and Eureka on Monday.
Governor Newsom said, “Hope is here. As our first doses of vaccine arrive, the promise of ending the pandemic is on the horizon. By taking collective, inclusive action across all 58 counties to get people vaccinated, we can get through to a healthier future for all.”
The Governor also issued an executive order addressing a variety of issues in response to the pandemic. That included providing a 90-day extension on tax returns and tax payments for small businesses, extending the availability of housing for migrant agricultural workers, and updating Cal/OSHA requirements related to quarantine guidelines.
The order allows the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) to offer a 90-day extension for tax returns and tax payments for all businesses filing a return for less than $1 million in taxes. Small businesses will have until the end of July to file their first-quarter returns.
