Google Will Open First Physical Store Near Chelsea Campus

Google plans to open its first-ever physical store in Chelsea, near its urban campus that includes its New York headquarters, this summer. VP Jason Rosenthal blogged that the store will be “a space where customers can experience our hardware and services in a helpful way.”

In common with the Apple Store, the Google Store will offer a selection of branded products along with in-store experts to help visitors get the most out of their devices. “Masks, hand sanitation and social distancing will be required in the Google Store, and we’ll clean all spaces multiple times a day,” Rosenthal wrote.

He noted that Google has been in New York for the past 20 years. “We view the store as a natural extension of our longtime commitment to the city.” The majority of Mountain View, CA-based Google’s 11,000-plus New York City employees call the Chelsea campus home.
