Google Strikes Again: Leases 150K SF at Saltillo

Google Inc. continues increasing its footprint in the Austin area. The latest activity involving the tech giant puts it in 150,000 square feet of office space in a seven-story building that is currently under construction at Saltillo. The lease means Google will take down the entirety of the 10-acre, mixed-use Saltillo’s office space.

Saltillo, located east of Interstate 10 and between Fourth and Fifth Streets in East Austin, is under development by Endeavor Real Estate Group. In addition to office space, the project will include 800 apartments, a Whole Foods Market, as well as retail and restaurant space.

Google also recently signed a lease for an entire 35-story downtown office tower that Trammell Crow Co. is building at West Cesar Chavez and Nueces Streets. Google employed 800 locally as of August 2018. The new leases, however, could provide enough space for thousands of employees.
