Google Spending $400M on LV Data Center Expansions
Google is planning to spend $400 million on data center additions in Nevada. Google already has a significant presence in the state. In 2020, a $600 million facility, 750,000 square feet, was built in Henderson, helped by $25 million in state tax breaks. The company also completed a $600 million center in Storey County in 2020.
Since the groundbreaking of the Henderson data center in 2019, Google’s total investment in the Silver State has topped more than $2.2 billion. Google says its latest investment will be enhancements at its Storey and Henderson facilities.
The centers have significant water requirements. Google has spent $4.7 million in water stewardship projects in the Las Vegas Valley and Lower Colorado River Basin and replenished more water to the Colorado River Basin in 2023 than the freshwater consumed at its Clark County data center.
