Google Nears Deal to Expand Offices at Hills Plaza in San Francisco
Google is in talks to expand its footprint at Morgan Stanley’s Hills Plaza along the Embarcadero in San Francisco, thereby regaining some of the office space that will roll off its books after its lease at the nearby One Market Plaza expires this spring, reported the San Francisco Business Times. The expansion to roughly 550,000 square feet would be one of the largest leasing transactions closed in San Francisco in recent years.
Google has had a presence at the two-building office complex since the fall of 2007. It currently leases close to 416,000 square feet there, although that lease is expiring in the near term.
No deal has been finalized. But the pending expansion at the roughly 650,000-square-foot Hills Plaza at 345 Spear and 2 Harrison St. comes as Google confirmed last year it wouldn’t renew its lease for approximately 320,000 square feet at One Market Plaza when it expires in April.
