Google Mulls Doubling Its Fulton Market Presence
Less than a year after announcing plans to expand its footprint in the Fulton Market District, Google is contemplating an expansion that would roughly double its size in the district to around one million square feet, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.
The tech giant, whose Midwest headquarters are at Sterling Bay’s 1000 W. Fulton, committed to 132,000 square feet last October at another Sterling Bay property now under development, 210 N. Carpenter Dr.
Two more Fulton Market developments that Sterling Bay has on the drawing board are both candidates for the expansion, Crain’s reported. The developer’s 1000 W. Carroll Ave. and 345 N. Morgan St. both would be built across the street from 1000 W. Fulton.
Also under consideration are 320 N. Sangamon St., planned by Tishman Speyer and developer Mark Goodman; and 167 N. Green St., which Shapack Partners and Focus Development are building.
