Google Grabs Kirkland Development Site for $40M
Google acquired a new development site in Kirkland for $40 million. The tech company indicated the property would serve as additional future space for long-term growth in the area.
The plot is located in the Kirkland Urban development on Seattle’s Eastside. The new, transformative 12-acre mixed-use development in downtown at 6th Street S. and Central Way was developed by PGIM, Ryan Cos., and Talon Private Capital.
Last year, Google acquired two buildings at Kirkland Urban totaling roughly 400,000 square feet of office and retail space. They are expected to deliver this year, and an additional Kirkland Urban development site is slated for completion in 2022.
Google counts more than 5,750 employees in the Seattle area involved in the company’s cloud-computing business, Android mobile operating system, Chrome browser, Google Maps, and ads.
