Google Gets Green Light on Canopy Campus
The Mountain View, CA City Council unanimously approved plans for Google Charleston East, a 595,000-square-foot canopied campus in North Bayshore. That paves the way for construction to commence in April 2017 on the two-story project city officials called to “die for.”
The 18.7-acre campus will include a two-acre public park and plaza, walking trails, ground-floor retail and indoor and outdoor work spaces. When completed in 2019, Google envisions a work environment that benefits the community, employees and the environment.
The environmentally-friendly plan aligns with the Mountain View’s vision for the site. The tent-like roof is designed to capture water for reuse, and its solar-paneled roof will generate roughly four megawatts of power.
