Google Snags 190K SF at San Francisco’s One Maritime Plaza

Google leased 190,000 square feet at Morgan Stanley’s One Maritime Plaza in San Francisco’s north Financial District. The transaction marks the tech giant’s third expansion of 2018 in the city. The company will start taking occupancy in 2020.

Google is leasing roughly a third of the 25-story, 534,000-square-foot building at 300 Clay St. In addition to the tower, which features an anodized dark bronze curtain wall and unique exterior cross-member structural bracing, the asset has two single-story, plaza-level office buildings.

A Morgan Stanley investment fund purchased the property in 2007 as part of the $2.5-billion, 10-property portfolio deal involving Equity Office/Blackstone.

Google’s other 2018 deals include 300,000 square feet at the Landmark at One Market building, as well as a 57,299-square-foot expansion at 2 Harrison St. Cushman & Wakefield says Google’s San Francisco office footprint has grown to 1.5 million square feet, ranking it as the third-largest tech tenant after Salesforce and Uber.
