Google Buys Mountain View Asset for $225.4M
Google acquired the former Mayfield Mall in Mountain View, CA, paying $225.4 million for San Antonio Station. The giant tech company has leased the nearly 750,000-square-foot building since 2013.
The property was sold by a joint venture between Bay Area-based Four Corners Properties LLC and New York-based Rockwood Capital LLC, which acquired the asset for $90 million in 2012.
Four Corners redeveloped the 27-acre, creative, class A office campus, incorporating the site’s original architectural elements, utilizing green building methods and advanced building technology.
The site, originally developed in the 1960’s, holds the distinction of being the first enclosed air-conditioned mall in the Bay Area. The property also served as Hewlett Packard’s corporate office in the 1980s.
CBRE handled the sale on behalf of Google, while Newmark Cornish & Carey handled the original transaction for the landlord.
