Google Buys 500 More Acres at Another Northland Data Center Site

Google recently bought nearly 500 acres planned for data center development in Kansas City’s Northland, just a few miles from where the company has eyed a different campus project for years. Google’s recent transaction brings its total Northland land holdings to 808 acres.

AG Rose Solutions LLC, an affiliate of the search engine giant, acquired approximately 493 acres northeast last month through transactions with Diode Ventures LLC, reported the Kansas City Business Journal. A purchase price was not disclosed.

The land acquisition comes as Diode Ventures advances a major amendment to its plans for Rocky Branch Creek Technology Park, which was originally slated to be a 360-acre campus with as many as 12 data center buildings totaling 4.3 million square feet. Google’s data centers support core company products, including its search engine, Gmail, Chrome browser and cloud-based products.
