Google Buying MXU Development in Downtown San Jose from Trammell Crow
Google is acquiring Trammell Crow’s Diridon Station development in San Jose for an undisclosed amount. The fully-entitled mixed-use project is located near the downtown Diridon transit hub and the proposed Google Village, an urban campus envisioned for eight million square feet of office space.
The decision by Google to buy the property from its longtime development partner wasn’t surprising, since the giant tech company was believed to be considering leasing it. Trammell Crow secured approvals to develop 1.04 million square feet of office space, 325 housing units and 35,000 square feet of retail space.
Construction on the 8.5-acre parcel at West Santa Clara Street at Delmas Avenue has yet to commence. The Texas-based developer acquired the property in September 2015 from Adobe Systems for roughly $58.5 million.
