Goodyear Exploring $130M Sports Park
The growing City of Goodyear is looking for a long-term partner to develop and operate a massive sports center that could be used by residents and host sports teams for tournaments. The sports complex idea includes up to 15 soccer fields that can also be used for other purposes, such as special events. A 48-court pickleball facility, trails and walking paths are also included.
Phasing was considered as one aspect of the potential plan. The first phase would be expected to cost approximately $65 million and produce six fields, the pickleball facility, office space, parking, restrooms and other infrastructure. The second phase would yield five more fields at a cost of $43 million and include more restrooms, office space and other facilities. Phase three would cost $22 million and add four more fields, parking and restrooms.
Goodyear is booming with growth. The city’s population has grown more than 15% in the past four years, to approximately 100,000 people.
