Goodman Eyes “Passive House” Office Project for Fulton District
Developer Mark Goodman & Associates is planning a $115-million office project that reportedly would be only the second “passive house” office development in the U.S. The passive house standard, said to be 75% more energy efficient, has only begun gaining traction in this country, although such developments are more common in Europe.
The 268,000-square-foot property would be built at 310 N. Sangamon St. in the Fulton Market District, near Google’s Chicago campus as well as the Ace Hotel. Goodman hopes to begin construction this fall, and will develop the property on spec if no leases have been signed by then.
“I think we’re at the inception where energy and environmental is going to be a major part of buildings that are built,” Goodman told the Chicago Tribune. “We’re going to see a lot more of this.”
